The increasing use of the Internet has raised important issues regarding the protection of the privacy and personal data of Internet users. These issues have become more acute given the equally widespread use of mobile devices, social media and the expected penetration of the Internet of Things, in which the collection, processing and storage of personal data is expected to grow. In the context of this course, the general theoretical background of privacy and security in Electronic Communications is presented. In addition, the national, European and international framework on personal data and privacy is analyzed. Particular emphasis is given on accessing, processing and storing personal data from devices, applications and services.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will know:
- The basic principles of privacy and security in Electronic Communications.
- The institutional framework for the protection of privacy and personal data.
