The Department of Digital Media and Communication of the Ionian University had the honor of welcoming Associate Professors Rachele Dubbini and Raffaella Cantore from the University of Ferrara, Italy, within the framework of the Erasmus+ mobility program (KA131).

The visit took place in a particularly warm and constructive atmosphere, with the active participation of faculty members and PhD candidates from the Department. The visiting professors delivered lectures focused on archaeology and Greek culture.

The topics of the lectures were:

  • Disseminating classical culture between public and shared archaeology: the case study of "Via Appia Antica 39" excavation in Rome

  • Reading a Greek Funerary Inscription in Imperial Rome — Text, Context, and AI as a Lens on Ancient and Modern Multiculturalism

The lectures captured the audience’s interest and stimulated fruitful reflection on issues of cultural heritage and modern communication strategies. Particular emphasis was placed on the use of innovative tools for the promotion of tangible and intangible heritage, in the context of developing new methods of presenting and interpreting archaeological sites—such as those currently being studied in collaboration with the University of Ferrara.

This academic exchange proved to be a valuable opportunity for enhancing intercultural understanding, offering fresh perspectives and enriching the educational experience through the creative sharing of ideas and knowledge.

The Department of Digital Media and Communication remains committed to strengthening the international dimension of its activities, actively promoting extroversion and collaboration through the Erasmus+ program, and enhancing its academic presence on a global scale.
