The PhD proposal entitled: Social Media effects on tourism experience: A destination actions analysis, contains a theoretical approach to the subject, its contribution to scientific knowledge, the scientific goals it holds, the methodology planned, the time schedule and finally sets out the reasons that make this proposal mature for implementation.
The main theoretical concepts included in the study are Tourism Destination, Tourism Experience and the Economy of Experience, Social Media and their impact on tourism and tourism experience formation. The proposal aims to specialize the research of Social Media contribution in shaping the tourist experience provided by tourist destinations. Moreover, to provide a comprehensive picture of the new perception of the tourist experience by codifying its use to maximize destination’s benefits.
The creation of an actions and strategies evaluation methodology and the extraction of a model that will classify them and match them to the results of the interaction produced will contribute to existing research efforts.
