The broadband Internet penetration is associated to an equally high penetration of electronic communication services, both for professional and personal use. Such services are widely used in the field of Communication. At the same time, rapid development of underlying technology is combined with a changing framework of e-Communications service provision at national, European and global level. It is therefore essential for professionals in the field to know the technological, regulatory and operational scope of e-Communication services.
In the first part of the course the operational framework of the European Union is presented, focusing on the European institutions and their legislation. The second part of the course addresses the topics of the IP addressing and domain names, intellectual property rights (IPR), technological neutrality, competition, as well as the framework of drone systems and open data.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be familiar with:
- The operational framework of the European Union,
- The rules of IP addressing.
- The context of intellectual property rights (IPR).
- The concepts of technological neutrality and open data.
