Gerasimos Panas

Gerasimos Panas is a member of the Laboratory Teaching Staff (EDIP), specializing in Business Administration, at the Department of Digital Media and Communication of the Ionian University. He has been serving in the Department since 2005 and has extensive teaching experience in higher education, teaching subjects related to Business Administration, Marketing, Public Relations, Communication and Tourism.

He holds a PhD from the University of Patras, with a research focus on strategic communication, marketing communications and public relations, with an application to the development of medical tourism in Greece and particular emphasis on reproductive tourism.

He also holds a BA (Honours) in Business Studies from the University of Wolverhampton, as well as a PgD and an MSc in International Marketing from London South Bank University.

His research interests focus on Business Administration, Marketing, Integrated Marketing Communications, Public Relations, Strategic Communication, Tourism, Medical Tourism and Wellness Tourism, as well as the development and promotion of tourism products and services.

He has published research papers in international academic journals and edited volumes and has participated in international peer-reviewed academic conferences. His research activity includes, among other areas, medical tourism, tourism communication, digital marketing, consumer behaviour and communication in tourism.

Alongside his academic activities, he has significant professional experience in business management and the tourism sector, including hotel management, as well as participation in initiatives and projects related to medical tourism and wellness tourism. He has also worked for Piraeus Bank at the Kifisias and Argostoli branches, where his responsibilities included supporting branch operations and developing retail banking activities.
