Valia Kaimaki

Dr Valia Kaimaki is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Digital Media and Communication at the Ionian University. She is also the Vice Chairwoman of the European Journalism Center in Maastricht, the Netherlands. She is also the director of the Greek edition of the French monthly review “Le Monde diplomatique”, published in Greece and in Cyprus.

For over 20 years she has been a journalist, specialized in international and European politics as well as new technologies. She has been writing in the Greek and foreign press and has also hosted radio and television news programs. In 2020, during the pandemic she also started her own podcast “Gefsi Kaimaki”.

She is the author of two books and has participated in numerous print volumes in Greek, French and English. She holds a PhD from Panteion University. Her main academic focus is digital journalism with a special interest in audio, data journalism, misinformation, AI for media, social media and the metaverse as well as European policies on digital transformation.
