Abstract

The aim of the thesis is to develop a design model of educational programs that includes interactive applications, based on playful learning for cultural spaces (museums, archaeological sites, cultural institutions, etc.) that will serve both distance and in-person education. It is necessary to create a model that will be followed for the planning and implementation of interactive educational activities in the area of museums. Factors such as the type of museum, exhibits, museum architecture, new technologies and audiences will determine the development of the above model. It is a fact, that the majority of Greek museums do not have interactive applications, both in their own space, so that they can enhance the experience of visitors, but neither do they offer online interactive educational programs so as to attract the public to come into contact with the culture online. Museums' presence in the digital world has so far only existed through virtual tours, digitized exhibit catalogs, audio narrations and individual online games hosted on museum websites. However, in the era of the Covid-19 pandemic, the need for distance education through educational online platforms becomes imperative since the public (students, families, etc.) does not have access to the cultural space. Therefore, the goal of the above doctoral thesis is to offer museum educators the tools to develop interactive educational programs both in situ and online.
